Council Capital 2025 Annual General Meeting Recap: Community, Collaboration, and Company Building

This fall, the Council Capital community gathered in the mountains of Deer Valley for our 2025 Annual General Meeting. Over several days, investors, portfolio company leaders, and members of the Council network came together to strengthen relationships, share insights, and explore the opportunities ahead for our companies and partners.

Community & Connection

One of the defining aspects of Council’s AGM is the opportunity to deepen relationships across our network. This year’s gathering blended meaningful conversations with time outdoors, allowing attendees to connect in a setting that encourages both reflection and collaboration.

Activities throughout the week included golf, fly fishing, hiking, skeet shooting, and art gallery tours, offering a variety of ways for participants to engage with one another beyond the conference room.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the first annual Council Capital Appreciation Awards, recognizing individuals who exemplify Council’s core values: Hiring the Best People, Building Authentic Relationships, Being Performance Driven, and Fostering a Passion for Company Building. This year’s honorees were Emily Stickley, COO of ViaQuest; Nicole Bowlby, VP of People Operations at Inner Circle Autism Network (ICAN); and Ken Hannigan and Chris Feeney, both CEO Council Members and Founders at PMPK. Each of these leaders has gone above and beyond in supporting our companies and strengthening the Council community.

Content That Mattered

While the setting provided an inspiring backdrop, the content and conversations remained the centerpiece of the meeting.

Market & Portfolio Presentations provided a clear-eyed look at the healthcare and technology landscapes. Discussions addressed the realities our companies are navigating today, from the impact of AI and evolving regulatory dynamics to margin pressures and shifts in the deal market. These sessions also highlighted the strong performance and momentum across Council’s Fund IV portfolio, reflecting the strength of our companies and leadership teams.

CEO Panels brought together experienced operators to share practical lessons from the field. We were pleased to be joined on stage by all of our CCIV portfolio CEOs as well as CEO Council Members and partners, including Leslie Norwalk (former Acting Administrator of CMS), Dipak Patel (Chairman, GEOH and CEO, GLOBO), John Baackes (CEO, LA Care Health Plan), and Emily Paxman (SVP/Managing Director Consulting, KLAS Research). Leaders discussed deal strategy, the nuances of scaling healthcare businesses, and how collaboration across the Council network can accelerate value creation.

In Working Sessions, participants explored frameworks for adopting technology and AI responsibly within portfolio companies, as well as best practices in executive hiring, from building effective scorecards to successfully recruiting and closing A-player leaders.

Looking Ahead

Our Annual General Meeting continues to be one of the most meaningful ways we bring the Council Capital community together. The combination of thoughtful content, candid dialogue, and shared experiences reinforces what makes this network unique: a collective commitment to building great companies and supporting one another along the way.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us in Deer Valley and helped make the 2025 AGM such a memorable and impactful gathering. We look forward to carrying the energy and insights from the week into the months ahead.
